Macston is a 10 year old yellow lab. He is a Level 2 certified therapy dog and loves to sit on feet for endless pets.
Brissel is an 8 year old border terrier who loves to go on trail runs and acts bigger than she is. She has been known to chase a moose from time to time. Brissel loves to have her tummy rubbed!
Sherlock is a 4 year old border collie. He is a fully certified Level 4 Professional Therapy dog. Sherlock has heterochromia - this means he has one blue eye and one brown eye. He loves to run on the trails and will chase balls for hours.
Joules is a 3 year old female mini mule. Her Mom is a donkey and Dad is a mini horse. She has the same Dad as Jolt. Joules can be bossy and opinionated at times to other animals but loves when humans feed her alfalfa treats.
Jolt is a 3 year old male mini mule. Jolt's Mom is a donkey and Dad is a mini horse, and he has the same Dad as Joules. He loves to snuggle, being brushed and is very gentle.
Jacqueline is 1.5 years old and is very affectionate. Sandy is her twin sister. Jacqueline loves to learn and has been clicker trained to jump over jumps and do several other tricks. She loves alfalfa treats and is very vocal when she is hungry or wanting attention.
Sandy is 1.5 years old and is a little shy at first. Jacqueline is her twin sister. Sandy loves to eat almost anything and although she can sometimes be bossy to her sister, she is a good friend to her.
Otters is a 16 year old quarter horse cross and has a real sweet tooth! If she had her choice, she’d live on apple fritters! She is an “easy keeper” so it is a good thing she loves to get out on the trails to help keep her weight down!
Ollie is an 8 year old quarter horse and is a gentle giant. Ollies has had extensive training in reining and roping and enjoys getting brushed and scratched.
Missy is a 6 year old quarter horse and always runs up to greet people when they enter the field. She has recently started training as a roping horse.
Peanut is a 12 year old palomino quarter horse and loves everyone. He is sweet and gentle and is excellent for beginner riders and loves his humans. Don’t let his small size fool you - he loves to get out and race around with the larger horses.
Spectre is our smaller and shyer guinea pig. We think he is about 1.5 years old. He is gaining confidence every week after a rough start to life and no longer lets Spook steal his food. Spectre loves to be petted and once he gets to know you and trust you he will be your friend forever. His favorite foods are strawberries and purple cabbage.
Spook is quite confident and vocal, especially when he wants a treat. He is approximately 2 years old and loves sitting on your lap and being petted or racing around his playpen. He is slowly learning to be a better sharer with his sibling, Spectre. His favorite food is carrots.
Baxter is a 3 year old Nigerian dwarf/lion head bunny. Baxter is usually called Grandma now as we found out the hard way Baxter was a girl! (There is a story involving Ollie the horse and his ability to open gates!) Baxter/Grandma is shy until she gets to know you. Her favorite food is carrots and she hates broccoli!
Our 12 chickens are Rhode Island Reds and are extremely well socialized. They were born in the spring of 2019. They are very comfortable being held and petted and do best when people move slowly and calmly when approaching them. The group lay approximately 8-10 eggs per day right now.
We have approximately 12 Belted Galloways and 2 shorthorns. Belted Galloways are named for their belt around the middle and are known for their heartiness and sturdy frame. They love winter!
Charli is one of the sweetest girls we know! After a tough start in life that included being an orphan she is learning to trust humans and other animals and is slowly finding her way. She loves being petted and brushed and is often the first one to greet us in the field.
These two young siblings are a dynamic duo! In addition to helping to keep the rodent population down, their favourite things are going for walks to visit the other animals, purring and climbing trees, hay bales and ladders. While they are inquisitive, athletic and love to play they also enjoy an afternoon nap in the sun after tormenting the dogs.
Marty is an almost purebred Galloway. He was born on the hottest day of the summer and his Mom decided she wasn't ready to be a Mom so he has been bottle fed since birth, much like Charli. They are really good friends! Marty enjoys being brushed, his evening bottles and sucking on people's fingers!
We added 17 Orpington chickens in early June. We think we have an abundance of roosters in these new additions! So far everyone gets a long and don't mind being snuggled! They are all very different and colourful and are very curious! We are excited for when they start to lay eggs later this fall!
Morris is a potbellied pig and has been part of the On the Ground team since December 2020.He makes us laugh every day with his funny noises and behaviours. He loves his food (except for brussel sprouts, cabbage and green beans) long afternoon naps and rooting in the yard!
Peachy the pot bellied pig is Morris's companion but her real love is Sherlock, our therapy dog! Every day she hopes that Sherlock will spend time with her, but he usually just wants to nip her behind! Peachy can be shy until she gets to know you but loves being petted and eating out of your hand. She is a very gentle girl with a great mohawk.
